I plan on getting the new mini i7 with either the fusion drive or ssd. Do I have to get the upgraded one online or can i get it in the retail store? I have tomorrow off and would love to head over and pick one up tomorrow.

Retail stores will not carry the i7 or the Fusion drive. Might try the Apple Store for the i7. Why not install your own SSD? Nothing could be simpler.

You can install your own SSD though I found it to be not worth the hassle myself.

dumb question but will putting in your own stuff, like an ssd, invalidate one's apple care if one were to spring for it???

Normally retail stores only stock standard configurations, but I have previously had luck and found my local Apple store had a MacBook Air with all the RAM/CPU/SSD options maxed out.

Give them a call :).

apple store does have i7 mini

thanks the local apple store does have the i7 one for $799 but nothing with fusion or the ssd. Think i'll just get it from apple with the upgraded processor anyways and wait a bit to get here. Did they change anything with the specs for the new ssd? or could i get one thats compatible with the 2011 mini and go from there?
I am nervous about killing something tying to do it myself though
