Hey guys

I just got hold of an old 2011 thunderbolt mac mini, i use 2560x1440 screens and noticed my mac mini only seems to want to go to x1080 through thunderbolt to dvi.

Is this a graphics card limitation? as it looks pretty bad on a 27" hi res screen so just wanted to check if theres a way to fix it?

Cheers for any help!

You need to use a dual-link DVI adapter like this, or if your display has the capability, use a Mini displayport to Displayport cable like this.

you are using a single-link DVI adapter? these are limited to 1920x1200

a dual-link DVI adapter is needed for any resolution above this.

urgh, must be a single link. Cheers guy.

I already use the screens display port input for my mac pro

dual link adapter looks really expensive?

Yep. Could you use the Dual DVI to your Mac Pro and the Display port for your Mini? Obviously this isn't an option if your Mac Pro is a 2013, but the prior models had at least one dual dvi port.

Nooo.... Hook your Monitor to the DVI on your Mac Pro and the Displayport to your Mini.... You said you couldn't use your Displayport because it is already hooked to your Pro, so why not switch connections....
