can i hardwire apple tv to my macbook for quicker tranfers

i have a slow internet connection, of which i cannot change as it is all that is currently available where i'm living.
i have downloaded quite a bit of movies onto my computer (into ext HD) thru itunes, while visiting somewhere that has a very fast connection. I would like to copy/transfer them on to apple tv unit.
Using the wireless connectivity of the apple tv and the macbook means it will take ages to synch the two units. is there a method for hardwiring them together so the transfer if movie files is done more efficiently?

I assumed you are using your macbook to create a wireless network that your aTV uses. If that is the case, then you need a cross-over ethernet cable to connected the 2 together. You'll also have to give them both static IP addresses on the same net. I'll warn you tho, I believe the aTV only has a 100mb ethernet (not sure why), so it won't be that much faster. If you have a router, you can simply plug them both into that. But you'll still be limited to 100mb/s (which is faster than G wireless at a max of 52 mb/s).

The fastest transfer rate that I'm aware of that an aTV can do is via an Apple Airport Extreme/Time Capsule/Express router running wide-channels N. This gives you a transfer rate of up to 300 mb/s. Your macbook should be capable of that wireless rate as well. You macbook can also connect gigabit to the router, the aTV is still limited to 300 wireless or 100 ethernet

If that is the case, then you need a cross-over ethernet cable to connected the 2 together.

A regular ethernet cable should work. The MacBook should detect it and do the crossover internally.
