The only way to (legally) get Photo Booth is to buy a new iMac. Any other ways are not allowed to be discussed on this board.

Just be patient. I think eventually Apple will offer PhotoBooth to all Mac owners.

a lot of people (like me) are waiting for cool apps like Photo Booth and Front Seat...

the fact that Apple doesn't sell them as a stand-alone software frustrates many people too

i think all u can do is to be patient and wait for iLife '06

maybe these 2 apps will come with it in january next year

I don't know it it goes that far. Normally I am one of those booming voices of the law on these forums, but since PhotoBooth is not sold, we'd really have to see the EULA to determine whether or not it's required to be bundled with the iMac before we can say it's illegal, definitively.

The old version of iPhoto that was bundled with Panther is a good example of this. It's free, but not available for public download. I'm very curious about Photobooth in this regard.

If someone could look in their software CD's bundled applications and report on the license agreement for Photobooth and Front Row, that would be fascinating.

That's the way to get people to help

It comes on new iMacs and new iMacs only. It is not available on CD, it is not available through download - legal, illegal, or otherwise.

No iMac = no PhotoBooth or Front Row..."duh".... ;)

if it's not available in the CD, i mean the iMacs installation/ backup software CD, what if my i format my iMac and wanna do a software restore? it won't show up?

Maybe in 10.4.3?
That must be very very close to being delivered?!

well, i dunno, i'm planning to get an iSight (my dad has one) but i'm still thinking hard about it as it's quite pricy in a way and if i don't get any strong reason to buy it i don't think i'll be buying it...

yeah and i certainly hope so that it will be delivered...

I've been considering a DV Camera with a FireWire port. It's more money but there is a lot more functionality. I've even seen a couple of DV Cams with webcam modes lately.

I have aquired a copy of Photo Booth, and there was no agreement or anything on initial launch.

Also, for anyone curious, it *does* work on my Powerbook w/ an old DV camcorder.

It wouldn't be on initial launch. Finding the EULA for Photo Booth might be an exercise in impossibility, because Apple may not have written one, since (I assume) it's just one little package and Apple probably has no intention of selling it. If anything, it'd be on the iMac software bundle "master" EULA. But I'm thinking there's no legal prohibition, since it's a free applet. It doesn't really "do" anything.

Front Row, I assume, is different...since it's something Apple would conceivably sell. It's also meant to work with hardware that Apple does sell/control (the remote, iPhoto, iTunes Music Store, iMovie).

I'm sure they'll release this software for other apps.

The problem with Front Rowe is that its a CORE SERVICE, not just an app!
Their has to be a EULA for photobooth and Front Rowe, I'm sure. If you send in your Mac and its not the most Recent iMac update, then prepare to be screwed by Apple.

With Front Row, you'd definitely be in trouble.

But Photobooth is a little 3MB applet that barely does anything and Apple, in my opinion, would never have the gall to try to sell it. I agree with whoever said it would come with iSight over iLife. It's not useful or substantially capable of doing anything useful enough to become part of iLife. As Steve Jobs said, "it's just a fun little app we wrote to play with" (not a direct quote). Sort of like the Core Image Funhouse.
