Can I host multiple websites with 1 mobileme account?

I don't think you can. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me, because I would like t have a second domain also.

You can definitely have more than one site on MobileMe (web.me.com/username/sitename), however, Apple only gives you one domain name.

Of course you can buy more from GoDaddy or wherever.

I'd absolutely love to see just how that is done.

My problem is a little different, I already have a domain, I want to host another one via my mobile me. It gives me an option to remove my hosting but not add another so I seem to be stuck with just one. Any ideas?

Edit: for instance, I own and publish to nullality.com, I own and want to ALSO publish to miaminoiseandbass.com. how?

I'm not quite sure how you'd go about pointing GoDaddy domains to MM sites.
I host my own stuff on a FreeBSD server in my basement.

If you get desperate, you could always just set up a permanent 302.

What about if I have 2 mobileme accounts? What would I have to do in order to not completely **** up my iWeb // domain currently existing. If I switch mobile me accounts then I'm ****ed as well?

Is my only option to create a new user and party over there when I want to update / make this new website?

Unless you have iWeb '09, it will always publish all the sites listed on the left hand side to a single MobileMe account. If you had 2 MobileMe accounts, to publish 1 website to each account, you would need to split the Domain file located in ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/. The most straightforward way to do this is to duplicate the file, delete one website from the first Domain file, double-click on the duplicated Domain, delete the other from the second Domain file. Then you'll just have to keep track of which MobileMe account you're signed into in System Preferences before publishing. iWeb '09 allows you to selectively publish single or multiple sites using 3 different methods: published to MobileMe, published to a FTP server, or published as a local folder. A site can only be published via one of the methods at a time. So you can't have the same site published to MobileMe and to FTP, you would have to duplicate the site first so it appears twice in the sidebar. Like iWeb '08, you can only be signed into one MobileMe account at a time, so you would have to use the same Domain file splitting trick to publish to two different accounts.

is it possible that masking stops my .jpg from appearing correctly? when i use the mobile me URL it appears fine. When I use the forwarded domain + masking it doesn't appear correctly.

Hosting to multiple sites

I added the family pack. Each user can have their own domain. So for $50 you can have 5 additional websites set up. You will have to set up the additional accounts as users on your mac and log in to each one to create that sites website, but I prefer to do it that way because it keeps my sites separate. Also, if you can find someone that would want to split the cost they can use one of the family pack mobileme accounts. It works for me.

Well, I've just purchased my own domain name via '123-reg' - to use with iWeb 09 and, after a few hours of web surfing for answers and the like, finally got my site up and running.

I actually purchased several domain names with the intention of creating websites for each via iWeb; but it soon became apparent mobile me will only let you register/use one domain name.

This blog is great as it has some cool ideas of circumventing this - especially by (simply) purchasing a family upgrade. I spoke with Apple re this and it all checks out - it just depends on wether or not you mind logging in as a new user each time to access each iweb account? If you're running 5 separate websites for different purposes (maybe 5 separate businesses?) then that may actually be the best way of running things (at last a solution that is more use than hindrance!)

I nearly chose the above route; but in the end I just created one large iWeb site with 'multiple' sites within it. These 'multiple sites' were actually nothing more than additional pages; and I then 'forwarded' my other domain names to pages within it ... pages I had 'masked off' from other areas of the site. In effect, I now have what appears to be 5 independent sites running from just one!

Hosting Multiple Website on Mobile me from GoDaddy​

Apple has made it simple to redirect and mask a single domain name to your Mobile me account. Unfortunately, if you want to host multiple sites, you have to jump through quite a few unintuitive hoops.

This procedure is tailored for GoDaddy users, but could be useful to others as well.
Follow the instructions ACCURATELY!

1) Log into Mobile me.
2) Click on the Settings icon
3) Enter your Mobile me password.
4) Click on the Personal Domain icon
5) Remove any domain you may have added here.
(Yes, really remove it.)
6) Open iWeb and make a small change to the home page of the websites you want hosted.
Save from the File menu.
7) Publish to Mobile me from the File menu.
8) Click on your site name and select Visit Published Site from the File menu.
9) Once the site opens in your browser, copy the contents from the URL address bar.
10) Open a text editor and paste the URL you just copied. DELETE THE http://
11) Repeat steps 8 through 10 for any other websites you want to add to Mobile me.
12) Login to your GoDaddy account.
13) Under “My Products”, click on Domain Manager.
14) Click on the domain name you want to configure.
15) Under “Total DNS”, click on the Total DNS Control link.
16) Expand the CNAMES (Aliases) column and look for “www”.
On the far right you will see an Edit icon.
17) Click on the Edit icon and make the following changes.
Enter an Alias Name: www
Points To Host Name: @
18) Click OK.
19) Click on the Forward icon.
20) Copy the website URL you copied from Step 9 above.
21) Click on the Edit link.
22) Paste the contents into the field
21) Click on the Advanced Options link.
22) Select Forward with Masking.
(You may include keywords and other useful MetaData here also.)
23) Click OK. Click OK again.
24) Click on the Domains Tab.
25) Repeat Steps 15 through 23 for any other domains you want to add.
26) You may have to wait 15 minutes to an hour for all these changes to work.

I'll throw my +1 in and say yes, it can be done, using domain forward and masking (I use godaddy as well) and I host 3 seperate domains with my mobile me. I use iWeb 09 as well. Dont know about previous versions.

Hi Mac-Cat,
I had the same problem until I quit my browser and relaunched it.
Hopefully, it is as simple as that.

I am by no means an expert on this, and simply copied all of the phone instructions that the GoDaddy and MobileMe techs gave me. Some MobileMe techs are pretty savvy on this subject, others not so much.

Hopefully, the information I copied from my GoDaddy account will help you out.

Hi Flock of Peackocks,

Please download the PDF files I posted on May 17th, 2010. They are at the very bottom of my post, and will give you printable documentation with plenty of screenshots to refer to.

My websites are both working beautifully. Please note that my instructions are for masking/forwarding from GoDaddy. If you are using another registrar, you may have to tweak the settings based on what they present you with.

Please keep us updated on your progress and what registrar you are using.

I have a website I built using Sandvox. The domain name is registered with Go Daddy and I have it hosted on MobileMe using a Family Pack. I now want to launch another website I am building with iWeb. Once again I have the domain name registered with Go Daddy. Does anyone know if I will run into any additional steps when I go to publish my new site because I am using 2 different web design programs? Intuitively I would think there should be no problem, but I thought I'd ask.
