I have been trying to download a ".ipynb" file, a python notebook file. But everytime it adds an extra .txt extension and I can't even change the extension by renaming the file. So, it's so irritating right now. Is there any way to ignore the .txt extension ?

Who adds the additional extension? Safari?
If you are certain of the legitimacy of the file, you can give it any extension you want.
Have you enabled "Finder > Settings > Advanced > show all file extensions" ?

Yes you can. Put the cursor at the end of the txt extension with the cursor keys, press delete 4 times and enter OR, in terminal execute: mv “file name”. ipynb.txt “filename”.ipynb
