i needed to buy a new firewire cable since i think my old one is dead. well, i was looking around and saw that there are several different kinds - like 6 pin to 4 pin, and 6 pin to 6 pin, and 9 pin to 6 pin, etc. is there one that works better than the other for macs or are they all the same? thanks.

It depends what you're going to use it for.

9 pin is Firewire 800, so if you don't have that, it's no use to you.

All Macs are 6 pin, so you should get a 6 to 6 pin if you want to connect two Macs.

Most video cameras are 4 pin, so you need a 6 to 4 pin to connect a Mac and a camera.

Some PC laptopts are 4 pin, too, so to connect a PC laptop and a camera, you need 4 to 4 pin.
