You can update any build to the next pub or dev as long as you have access to that build.

Dev Mac OS X is not downloaded through App Store, but through developer portal, which is different from conventional App Store.

No, Developer Builds come from the App Store, just like the public beta ones.

Exactly! Only the the first El Capitan Beta has been a direct download in the Developer Center if I remember correctly.

Now the only thing you can get there is that one:

instead of that one:

@Shirasaki

But what you said is correct for the iOS Beta builds.

Uh, ok. Sorry, for both of you.
I am in fact not a developer.
But this proves that downloading developer beta of El Capitan is not as easy as it was under iOS. It requires different seed utility to be installed.

Yes, you don't even get a full installer for each new beta. It has been really annoying to do a clean install of 10.11.0, since you always had to start at Beta 1 and there where only delta updates available. So you had to update to Beta 2, 3, 4... until there was a new full installer available at Beta 6 or 7 I think.

At least you now get combo updates on the App Store. So you just have to install one single update to get from every version 10.11.X to the latest 10.11.2 Beta.

Edit: And you can't do a recovery installation without getting back to 10.11.1, that is really bad.

Thank you very much. :)
