Can I max out SATA II on 2008 Mac Pro?

If I get 2 recent 2-3TB hard drives and RAID 0, will I max out SATA II? I'm not really looking for space, but more speed. Even 2x1.5TB will suffice, as long as it caps SATA II... because I'm sharing the drive with another user and want to get the max through output.

Unlikely, as one 3.5" S-ATA HDD can not even saturate the S-ATA 1.5 Gbps (S-ATA I) interface, thus two SATA HDDs will not even saturate S-ATA 3.0 Gbps (S-ATA II).

Under optimum file transfer conditions, you need three rotational drives to saturate SATA I, five or six to saturate SATAII. When the drives are doing a lot of seaking.. many more.

SSD is different, but you still need more than two if you want to saturate the writes. fewer drives can saturate read only data.

I bought the Apricorn Velo 2x and will use that instead. The second SSD has to be taped underneath the DVD drive, though, since Im already taking up 2 SSDs underneath

Move the optical drive to the lower space and you can simply rest the SSD on its top, with maybe a little double-sided foam tape to keep in in place.

Already have this in the bottom bay with dual SSD's

I'll just put it somewhere there and use temporary tape.

I see! I've got 3 SSDs just sitting (with the aforementioned foam tape) on top of my optical drive. I must admit that the linked bracket looks pretty nice though.
