Rocketing through the sky!
My desktop is completely clean except for the one icon I use all the time, the Macintosh HD icon. Is there anyway to move it from the desktop to the dock? I really bums me out having it on my desktop since i have about 8000 pictures rotating every 5 seconds and it obstructs the view!

I can move mine to my dock. I can only put it next to the Trash icon though. In Finder preferences you can take off hard drive icons.

You may have an even bigger problem on your hands besides trying to get ride of an icon.

Open Finder preferences and under the general tab there's a check box to show or hide the system disk.

You don't really even need the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop at all. Just go to preferences and turn it off. Then if you want to access all your stuff, just click Finder in the dock. It shows a window that is basically the same apart from it might just show your account. No biggie having to have to click on applications or anything is it?;)

When your in the Finders preferences turning off the icon you can change "New Finder windows open" to Macintosh HD (or whatever you want).
