Can I purchase a Galaxy S 3 while waiting for pre-order...

Thinking of trying out the Galaxy S 3 before my pre-order arrives..can I still do that? If I don't like it I will return it, and if I like it i'll keep it and return the iphone 5..

Any advise?

Yeah if you pay full price for it. But if you used a upgrade on the iPhone you can't use that same upgrade on another phone.

I thought I read somewhere that when you pre-ordered the iphone 5 (and paid for it, to be shipped to your house) it doesn't use your upgrade until you actually activate it with iTunes when the phone arrives on the 21st..

Oh - I was going to do it through Best Buy since they have no restock fees.

I do have another line which is upgrade eligible, but a dumbphone is currently using it, I guess I could use that line to purchase the Galaxy S3 at the subsidized price and switch it to my current line?

Then if I dont like it, return it, and when the iphone 5 arrives, activate the i5 on my current line.

What Best Buy didn't point out to me, is that after 3 days, the AT&T activation fee is non refundable. The day you buy the phone is day 1. So if you picked one up today and tried to return it Tuesday, you would be stuck fighting with AT&T on the activation fee.

Best Buy suckered me with "all this stuff is returnable. If you decide you want the iPhone, just bring this one back." All ended ok because I swapped it for a 4S for my mom on Wednesday night and used her upgrade to order my 5. I'll just have to do a couple hardware swaps, which shouldn't be a big deal. And I likely won't buy another phone from Best Buy.
