Hello all, I am hoping for some instructions here….
I am trying to transfer files between my Mac laptop (High Sierra 10.13.6), and an external drive, and I keep getting this error at some point,
‘The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)’.
I am trying to transfer large groups of video files to my external drive, and I mean large, like 4100 files transferring, and it takes hours to complete the transfer. That error will pop up at some point within the transfer process, usually a couple hours into it, and stop the entire batch from transferring. When you get that error, the transfer stops, and waits for you, providing only a single option to click that says ‘Ok’, but when you click Ok, it completely cancels the entire transfer. So it basically made you wait for hours before coming back with some finicky, confusing error, and then all the time you waited was for nothing.
My question is whether there is any way to push through that error, and not stop the entire transfer?? If it is only having a problem with a single video, out of four thousand videos, then why can’t the remainders just go ahead and finish transferring, and just skip the one causing a problem??
If anyone can give me a means to just say, fine that video you can skip, but finish the rest, I would be wholly grateful, and thanks in advance!!
