Can I put my ATT Sim into an iPhone ?

I'm sure this has been answered, but i cant fnd it.

I have Att ( razr )

if I was to by a used iPhone 1 ( since everyone will be getting rid of them to upgrade ) and simply put my sim card in....will it work to make calls ? and can I use WiFi for internet/mail ?

Browse around here for the details, but yes you can as long as you jailbreak it. You can also move your account to it and then cancel the data plan. If you are an at&t customer already, might as well go "legal" with it and that way should something happen (and you can still get applecare) you are good to go.

The SIM card is transferrable, but I'm not sure that the contacts will be transferred via the SIM card. There several ways to transfer your contacts to your iPhone, but I couldn't use any of them coming from a Motorola KRZR. Check some other threads, they may have remedied this problem by now.

I was able to get the contacts off my razr using iSync (included with OS X) over a bluetooth connection.
It synced all my contacts on my phone with address book, it also kept my calendar on the phone updated.
I was doing this long before the iphone came out. but this was a t-mobile razr, so some of the functions may be disabled with other providers.

Once the stuff is in address book, it automatically copies over to the iPhone.

also at&t might be able to get the numbers off the razr and do the transfer for you.

even if you're not worried about transferring the contact list i would still reccommend going through AT&T to do the change. you might be able to keep the sim that comes in the iPhone, just have it added to your account.
