Can I receive my notifications on my desktop

Let's say I am working and have my phone silent, packed away, not to be touched, but I still want to receive notifications that I have new email, new texts, new news, etc. Is it possible to get my notifications to show up on my computer as well?

I read that this can be done with Lion, but I dont have Lion.

At this point it cannot even be done on OS X Lion. Sorry. If you ported your number to Google Voice perhaps but not using just OS X and iOS 5.

You can have your browser's home page be http://www.iCloud.com. At least you would be able to check your email, contacts, etc while working on the computer.
