I've been trying out newer OSs on different machines using my High Sierra daily driver as the machine to build the install disks.

Somehow I managed to install opencore for my MacBook Air on the boot disk on my daily driver iMac 2011.

Doesn't impact the system running but does complain that I must install OpenCore on the boot disk since I'm running it on the wrong machine and won't allow me to build any more openCore disks.

now what?

FYI - this is what I get when I try to start OpenCore Patcher

I have no other choice other than to say OK, which builds the configuration for my iMac 12,2. If I view the log when it's done and try to get back to the main window, this comes back as soon as I get there.

Here's the disks in my iMac, nothing spectacular:

i use an app called clover, use that to mount your high sierra partition, remove the oc folder from the efi, unmount partition, now delete everything oclp related. restart mac and see how it feels. then redownload oclp 1.0.0 and try again

What is "Clover" and where do I get it?

I'm assuming that I could probably do that from a terminal window on the MacOS recovery boot partition? or a recovery partition on another drive?

I don't need OC to boot this machine, it's supported natively by High Sierra. So I just need to get OC out of the boot path so that I can use it to keep making my boot USB sticks for my other experiments (and maybe some day I'll upgrade this system but I have to be really comfortable before I do that since I use it all the time!)

is the "OC folder" on the EFI partition or the High Sierra partition?

when I google clover I get a couple of thousand hits on a POS (cash register system)

thx, I'll poke around on the HS partition. you think I can remove the OC folder entirely and not have an issue with rebooting this machine?

Choice:
1) Backup to TM (in case of disaster), mount and fiddle with what is in the EFI partition. That is where Clover might help.
2) Backup to TM, boot to recovery, erase disk, reinstall macOS and use migration assistant to recover apps, data and settings.
With 2 you can be sure that you have a clean system. 1 might be quicker - or not if you stuff up.

So search for: clover macOS or clover hackintosh
