I'm currently in the Apple upgrade program for my iPhone X. I have been using about 10+ months. So this means I have AppleCare+.

I started to notice scratches on the screen. No other major cracks.

Can I use my AppleCare+ with $29 deductible for the repairment? Anyone who exchanged or repaired for this reason?

Thank you!

Do you plan to upgrade in the 12th month? If yes, don't even bother unless you plan to buy your iPhone X outright. As for screen replacement on scratches, I doubt it. I believe it only applies to cracked screens. Correct me if I am wrong.

I had a conversation with apple care specialist on support the other day. I was mainly concerned about scratches to the back glass or bands but she told me apple care+ does cover cosmetic damage, you just have to pay the deductible.

I had an identical issue with my 8+. I happened to be in an Apple Store in Beaver Creek, OH and asked the local genius who was working on my daughter’s phone and he said it was no problem to fix the scratches under AppleCare but that it would use up an ‘instance’ on my coverage. I didn’t have time to schedule it that day so I waited until I was down in Indy a few weeks later and had them replace the screen. At that time the rep at that store told me that they could not do it because AppleCare doesn’t cover cosmetic damage.

I think there is a lot of discretion that goes into some of those decisions. I’m sure that if I pressed the issue I could have prevailed, but I wasn’t trying to create issues for anyone. Scratches are obviously my fault and they are definitely cosmetic.

Whats the deal with all the scratches on the iPhones now? I have an SE and there are zero scratches on the screen. Somebody said it was the gorilla glass that was scratching. Why bother using gorilla galss if its going to scratch. My brother's iPhone 8 screen is covered in scratches.

I don't understand why Apple would not replace the display for virtually any reason under Apple Care +. Especially when after they turn you down, a customer could just drop the phone and THEN get the display replaced.

Exactly. So what if I intentionally break the screen?
[doublepost=1539238181][/doublepost]Thanks for all your inputs! Seems like I need to try a genius bar.

In my opinion, that is weasel words on Apple's part. As far as I'm concerned, you're paying a lot of money for Apple Care+ and then you ALSO have to pay the deductible.

The insurance is 20–25% the cost of the phone... and THEN you have to pay on top of that. I'd be tempted to accidentally on purpose crack the device ( in a controlled manner ) if that were the case. As far as I'm concerned... you have up to two screen replacements... if there's ANY damage whatsoever, it should be covered.
