Hey all, any help on this would be appreciated...
My computer was getting slow, so as routine maintenance, I decided to wipe the entire thing clean and the reinstall the OS (Windows XP SP 2). Before I did that, I copied the entire itunes folder to a backup drive. I think at the time, I was running itunes v9.8. So, when I reinstalled, I upgraded to version 10. After reinstlaling everything, I copied that itunes folder back from my backup drive to my computer's hard drive. Then, in itunes 10 I selected the location of my itunes folder under edit/options/advanced and then re-opened itunes. It did not recognize my music or my playlists. So, then I went under file/add folder to library and inported that itunes folder. Now, all my music showed up, but still no playlists. I've searched other locations and the apple website and I see that I should have a "itunes library.xml" file that should have all this data. Each time I try to use that file, all I get are 2 songs, one by Beethoven and another guy. So, somehow my backup got screwed up and that is no longer an option...
The potentially good news is that I have an appleTV that is synched to my computer. It synched right before I wiped the hard drive clean. Is there any way to use the appleTV to restore my itunes information?
I saw a thread on this site that referenced patchsticking the aTV and then using SSH. I had previously patchsticked the aTV but I don't know how to use the SSH to do the rest. Can somebody walk me through it? This is my last option before scrapping it an just trying to manually redo all my playlists.
Thanks for any help you can give.
