Okay, to keep it simple, I tried to get my dad to get the family pack but he said that he wasn't going to install it on any other computers than my mac. Now however, after seeing it on my mac, he expected me to be able to use my disc to install it on his computer as well, and claims that I had told him I could do this all along. Is there any way that I could get it running on his laptop as well?

First I'm going to assume that The Win7 OEM requires a key like my Vista OEM disks had. I'm also going to assume that you have only one copy of said disk/OEM license. My response would be no you can't install it on his laptop because you only have one key.

Edit - You can however use the same disc with a different key but you will still need to buy another license. If you are a current college student you might qualify for the student promo and be able to buy a digital copy online where they would send you a key through email.

The activation process Microsoft makes Windows users go through should prevent the key you used on your computer from also working on your dads laptop.

Maybe he was thinking of Apple, and how they don't do that (and expecting Microsoft to be the same way)?

That's what I was thinking. Also, I'm currently in high school so I don't qualify for student discount yet , it does suck to be the only person who has any technical knowledge and they all expect me to do stuff for them and for it to work automatically, even when I tell them it won't work before hand.

Yeah, my dad has a pc, I'm the only one that owns a mac in my family, I'm guessing he expected it to work just because he spent $110, even though I told him it wouldn't.

About your only legal option would be to try to take the disc back and exchange it for the Family Pack.

You can get the win741.com deal if you want, but it's only an upgrade so you will ned some sort of activated version of Windows working to run the $30 upgrade. All you need is a .edu email address. If you don't have one, sign up for one at http://www.australia.edu and it's free. Technically you are a student and should get access to the discount.
