Can I set up a wireless network from my iMac for my iPhone at home?

Hi everyone this is my first post so hoping for some good responses!
I've just got an iPhone and want it to connect wirelessly when I'm at home. However my iMac is wired to the internet and it seems stupid to buy a wireless router just for this. Is it possible to set up a wireless network without buying a router just using what's inside the iMac? I've got a new iMac with all the bells and whistles running Leopard.
