Wondering if I can simplify this set up a little.

I have on my desk:
Two monitors both with 2 hdmi inputs.
A Mac and a PC (pc for work sadly).

Both Mac and Pc each have two hdmi cables. One from each goes into one hdmi switcher and one from each goes into the other hdmi switcher.

Each hdmi switcher then feeds a single hdmi into each monitor.

So with both Mac and pc running I have two hdmi switchers and by pressing the button on each of these switchers I can have both screens showing the dual Mac desktops or the dual pc desktops or one of each (which is the norm).

Lots of cables but it works ok.

Am I being a dinosaur and is there perhaps a simpler way to go?

Ahh sorry to waste the time of anyone who’s read this.
Just discovered something called a KVM. Think I’m sorted.

That sounds good. I have a corporate pc which is locked down a fair bit. Can’t even change the wallpaper.
Looked on web for how to this screen sharing from the pc on to the Mac and I just got very confused.
Be grateful if you could help explain a little for the less techy literate ☺️

It would require software on the work computer as well as open access ports to the network. I also have a work computer and a personal computer with two screens, but remote access is not possible with my company configuration (not to mention explicitly prohibited by policy). So I just swap out the displays at the weekend.

Both my displays, a 55" TV and a 32" LED display, have more than one HDMI input. If I had a PC that I wanted to show on them in addition to my mac, I would connect both the mac and PC directly to them, and switch between mac and PC on their buttons or remotes. Lose the switchers, fewer cables, or am I missing something?

Yeah I think it would be fine to plug them direct into the monitors but it’s a faff finding the little button underneath to switch inputs. I use an hdmi splitter with a button on each that works ok. Just seems to me there must be a little box that does it all more simply.
Thought KVM was the answer but they just switch from one computer to the other.
Most of the time I use pc on one screen and Mac on the other (with a dual device keyboard and mouse that switches between them.
Sometimes I like both screens for the work pc and sometimes I like to have both for the Mac.
My setup of a thousand hdmi cables and two hdmi switches works fine.just thought there would be a magic bullet out there.
Thanks very much for your help though. Much appreciated
