Well, my parents have a family plan with AT&T and I'm not sure if I can still get an iPhone 3G. I know that you have to get a 2 year contract, so will the family plan get in the way of that? From looking on google, I saw that the 3G has a family plan, but I still don't really understand, can the iPhone 3G only be in a family plan with other iPhone 3G's or can my parents have like a sony ericcson or something, and I can still get it.

If I wasn't clear enough, please feel free to ask. And if I'm not posting this in the right place, please tell me.

Thanks. :)

I believe if you adding a new line to the exsiting family plan with a 2 years contract, you are eligible for the 3g iphone with the discount price, why don't you call AT&T and find out for sure.

I am on a family plan currently and only two of the 5 members in the plan have iphones. My sister has an original iphone and I have a 3G. So, I think hardware is irrelevant. I'm pretty sure it goes on a number to number basis; As in, lets say I got a new phone today for my number...I would have to wait until the contract was over to get discounted pricing on my next device. But that doesn't use the "upgrade" for the rest of the family.....I'm almost sure its a line by line basis....each is on its own time cycle.
