I’ve decided to keep the 11 Pro (paid in full), and would like to take my old phone to the Apple Store for trade-in credit/refund. However, I did not initiate the trade-in when pre-ordering, since I wasn’t sure.

Can I take my old phone to the store and get the trade-in value refunded to my credit card? (Don’t want store credit).

It’s also still within the 14-day return period, if that makes any difference.

I’m guessing no. You would have to return your device and re purchase the phone and include the trade in. That’s my guess anyways.

Actually requires store manager approval. I did the same thing as op 2018 iPhone XS Max 256 paid in full $1250 plus taxes. I came back 10 days later with my wife iPhone 7 Plus which was barely functioning infamous “can’t hear after update”.

Anyways. Manager approve to have $285 credit (trade in value of iPhone 7 Plis at the time) applied against my Amex purchase. So the $285 credit was refunded to me on the credit.

Why not put it up on EBay and you'd probably get a better trade in price for it.
The average iPhone 8 Plus 64gb is going for around $300-350 on eBay. 256gb is fetching $400-450

Apple is offering $300 any iPhone 8 plus.

So if op has base iPhone 8’plus 64gb better and easier to trade into Apple no hassle.
Even 400 for iPhone 8 Plus 256gb on eBay. Factor in eBay/PayPal shipping fees. Ur net may be $360. Is it worth the hassle for $60 extra.

to some it is. To other not.

You can. I've done this twice now. They just need the serial number of the 11 pro you purchased.

You can go back and do it within 14 days they need your receipt or the device on hand to scan serial number and confirm it’s available for the increased trade in value

Yes, you can take it to the Apple store and trade in, just let them them know and they should know what they are doing. They may need to get managers override for them to allow you to either have the value be credit back to your original tender you used or on a debit card.
"Trade-ins" without purchase are gift card only.

To get cash, you'd need to return the phone and re-buy it with trade-in included.

Or you could ask the manager to make an exception and skip the hassle of returning/re-buying and just refund you the difference.

Nope. I have purchased Apple Watch S5 for online order pick up, picked it up, later that day, I have decided to trade in the Apple Watch S4. Originally paid with my Barclays Credit Card, and asked them to put the trade in value on my Debit card. All they needed was the Manager's Override and gave them my debit card, put in my PIN number, and instantly got my trade in value debited onto my bank account.

So this can be done, it just depends on who you get and knows what they are doing.
