Can i still update my iphone that is on an older version of ios to version 15.5 while 15.5 is still being signed by Apple?

I know one could restore and downgrade from 15.6 to 15.5 while Apple is still signing 15.5, but can I still do a standard update from ios 12 to 15.5 somehow?

You can update/downgrade to any version of iOS as long as it’s signed.

But in your case you’d need to manually download the IPSW file from the ipsw.me website and update using iTunes. This is due to the fact that there’s a version of iOS newer than the one (still signed) you’re trying to update to.

So i can still do the normal update (keep your data on the phone), and it doesn’t have to be a restore process?

Could you tell me the right steps to follow after I’ve downloaded the 15.5 ipsw? Cause I really can’t find a guide. Google is only giving me downgrade guides

In iTunes (or Finder), click on Update while holding Cmd/Alt key. Will bring up a file selector, select the ipsw file.

And as always, make a backup before updating.
