Is it possible to update to OS Mojave now, instead of the new Catalina? It would be updating from macOS Sierra 10.12.6. Just found out that my Quickbook program 2016 will not run on the new Catalina.

Yes, I know, I"m way behind on updating my OS. Haven't wanted to give up some the features on my current system. Any help on how to do this is much appreciated.

I'm in the process of updating from High Sierra to Mojave.

I have no interest in ever updating to Catalina until I end up getting a new computer.

A tip to anyone reading this far:
I suggest that you visit the app store and download a copy of the Mojave installer TODAY.
You don't have to "run it" (just quit it when the installer opens).
Then... MOVE the Mojave installer from the Applications folder to somewhere else -- preferably an external drive that you keep archived files on.
Do this, and you will have an archived copy of the installer for the future.

When I get to Mojave in the App Store, and click on OPEN, it takes me to the Catalina installer page. I cannot find a way to get the Mojave OS. What do I do next? Thanks.

It should say "Download" rather than "Open". Do you have the Catalina installer already downloaded? I wonder whether that might be confusing it.

I can still download Mojave successfully.

I dl'ed the Catalina installer, but deleted it when I discovered some older apps would not run. Seems like Catalina has become a default no matter what I try. So frustrating.

That link should go straight to this screen. Can you post a screenshot of what happens for you?

The link takes me to the first screen. I had to take a picture, because the Launch Application window disappears when I try to make a screen shot. When I select the App Store, I get the Mojave screen. I had to take a picture, because the Mojave window disappears when I try to make a screen shot. When the Mojave screen disappears, I'm left with the 'Connecting to the iTunes Store' screen.

Thanks for sticking with me on this little adventure.

EDIT: It looks like you are trying to do this in Chrome(?) browser. Try doing it in Safari. It's worth a shot.

The Mojave screen shows an open button which suggests that Mojave has been downloaded

Did you check to see if you have an “install MacOS Mojave app“ in the Applications folder?

Yikes, there it is! Thank you.
I had already checked the downloads folder and the utilities folder and hadn't found anything. So now I can give it a go.

Great news ! - you can check version - should be 14.6.06 (Current Version) - control + click on the file to show the version info

Might save you some updates later

The plan changed. So the Mojave installer file was damaged and would not open. Happens that I also had the Sierra installer downloaded. So with update I'm now version 10.12.6.

I'm going to try the link to the Mojave installer again.

The link successfully took me to the Mojave download button. More on this in a while.

Make sure to delete the old Mojave file before downloading a new copy of Mojave - I downloaded a copy 14.6.06 earlier this morning and it downloaded fine - took about 45 min

Delete the old installer and reboot to avoid potential problems:

I now have 10.14.6 plus an additional security patch. No more updates shown except for Catalina. All is well in MacBook land.

Thank you all as I've worked through the miss-steps and false turns. Your support has been so helpful.

We are now in mid January 2020, and it seems impossible to download installer for Mojave or Mojave. Any suggestions? I really only want to upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave, not to Catalina. I have a 2018 MBP the basic version.

See the link in Post #4 and Step 4 in linked Apple instructions.

Scroll down to the instructions for Mojave.

Thanks! Followed the instructions, but I didn't get to use it because the mac seemed not to recognize the SSD blade when booting from the drive nor when booting from the net (and then choosing disk utility). I swallowed my pride, made a genius bar appointment and went to the apple store. Booted from their mojave server and installed mojave from it.

I don't know why the mac didn't recognized the SSD neither when using the usb drive nor when booting from the net at my house . But doing it in the apple store solved the issue.

I'm typing on the mac with the new SSD on it. Happy as a clam.

Sincerely: Thanks for the help anyway.
