Can I still use a .mac email?

I have a .mac user ID, it works..but the email hasnt been set up.
When I set it up it asks for a me.com email

Any way to still get a .mac domain?

And @mac.com address that was on an active account when the termination of MobileMe was announced should still work when transitioned to iCloud.

If your MobileMe account was expired it probably wont work. You can try sending email to USER@mac.com and see if you get it on USER@me.com.
