Hi guys,

I recently got a new retina 27" iMac (late 2014) and really love it. I ordered an upgrade set of 2 8GB OWC dimms and put them in. Because the iMac has 4 slots I just left the original ones in there. Now it has 24.

Meanwhile my poor little mac Mini is sitting there with only 8GB in it. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to take some extra memory out of the iMac to put in the Mini. The Mini is a late 2012. hopefully it is compatible.

Is this possible and would any of you do this? Or just leave well enough alone?

thanks!

The Mini only has 2 slots, so your RAM options are limited there. There's a very small performance penalty for using mismatched RAM in the Mini and the iMac.

I think I know what you mean. I had trouble putting Crucial RAM in the iMac, but the mini was fine with it. I wouldn't want to put any other RAM in the iMac because it is running fine now.
