Can I switch my tracker off??

Hi there,

I have recently got mobile me for the family, at first it seemed great to see what the kids get up to, check on them in the afternoon on the way home from school etc. but Ive found throughout my day I don't want to have the whole family knowing where I am, Ive tried switching of my tracker but my wife won't let me, I even leave the phone on for her to call but that doesn't help. What can I do? Can I just lock my position so it shows I'm in the one place or something?

Seems your wife doesn't trust you. Either she has good reason for this (see above posters comment) or you need to grow a pair Sally. Which is it?

Apart from growing a pair you both have a good point. However, I have never given her a reason to think of me as untrustworthy. I feel like she may have been checking on where I am, and from this she may have developed a bit of paranoia. Shell ask, "so how was the beach" as I might meet a client down there from time to time, these are things that I might not have talked about previously, maybe its this transition that should be addressed??

This is less a tech question and more a marital issue. I did you a favor and called my wife and posed this dilemma to her. Her response was 'turn off the 'find my iphone' feature on your phone and tell her to deal with it. If she can't handle this, you've got much bigger problems to deal with besides an iphone setting'.

I thanked her for her response and told her that I was sorry to have forgotten to clean the bathrooms in the house and I would check my to-do list more often.

Well maybe computer tech, buts its been a lot more technical than anything ive come across on the mobileme software everything else runs so smooth and user friendly, but this.

It would just be a lot cooler if this software had some social warning, saying 'When using your phone finder you may find yourself in a pickle'!!

I think it goes without saying that a tracking device at the disposal of others may lead to questions.

But I digress. What is interesting is that I used to receive a pop-up bubble on the iphone when someone used the MobileMe website to find my location. That isn't happening anymore. I wonder when it stopped.

1) You and your wife have issues dude!

2) I don't know if this is acceptable (depends on your app/maps usage) but if you switch off location services I'm pretty sure your location stops updating on Mobile Me...

All he needs to do is go in to settings and slide the switch 'find my iphone' to 'off'. All of the locations based services will still work. It's the exact reason Apple put this setting in to the OS. I have a feeling if he does that, things might get worse, but this isn't a Dr. Phil personal advice blog...
