I have my xbox connected to my router with an ethernet so I just have to turn the xbox on then run Smart FTP on my PC, type in the xbox's IP and im in. Will I be able to plug the same ethernet into my future intel Imac, type in the Imac's IP and be in or is more involved because of OSX? Im looking for the absolute simplest way to transfer files besides haveing to burn 10 data DVDs or use an external drive as I do not have one.

if you asking if you can use an FTP program to get into your xbox from your imac, then yes, you can. Although good luck trying to find a decent free FTP program for a mac. I have tried many and all have been terrible.

Just make sure you have like windows sharing/file sharing on.

Try this way to transfer files from old pc to iMac

Turn on sharing on the pc side the main drive on pc is usually c:/ drive.. then cmd(apple key) +k while you got finder open on the imac and connected to pc via ethernet cable ..

in the server address the ip address of the pc should be like 192.168.*.*

then connect to server.. Drag 'n drop files from PC to iMac
