I've got an order in for a new rMBP and as such I'm entitled to a free copy of Mountain Lion. I currently have developer access to Mountain Lion and will already have access to the GM once released. With that in mind, Since I get a free upgrade to ML with my rMBP purchase, is there any way to transfer the free copy to someone else to use since I already have it? I've never used the Up To Date programs before and was wondering if this has ever been attempted before or if it can be done?

If they are doing the same way as they did with OS X Lion, they will give you a redeem code for OS X Mountain Lion and you will be able to give it to someone else.

ok, I'm getting conflicting answers, perhaps someone else can confirm this for me.

Also, can anyone confirm that the redeem code is for a regular MAS copy that can be installed on multiple computers or is it only valid for one computer?

its a regular redemention code that makes the purchase $0.00 instead of $19.99 its not a different version of the app

T&C say The OS X Mountain Lion software content code must be used solely with the products that qualify for this offer.

So I believe this means it can only be used with the rMBP you bought with it.. unless alone else has a different interpretation

taht might be true that the intial download must be done on the qualifed machine but once you have the install file downloaded you can make a bootable usb of ML and install it on as many macs as you want(i mean the ones you own);)
