Can I transfer my songs and videos from a PC to a macbook pro?

I just bought a macbook pro and im not familiar with mac computer I have alot of songs and videos that I got from itunes.com and I would hate to lose them is their any way of transfering them from a PC to a macbook pro? thanks

you can use any portable storage device to move them, just liek transferring any other file. Or you could burn a data CD or DVD and then copy the files off. Don't make an audio CD / DVD if you go that root because you'll have to rerip the tracks and degrade the quality.

just share your pc on the network and you can get them from your macbook pro then just authorize your new macbook pro and you will be fine you can have 5 pc's authorized so you can still listen to music on both pc and mac...thats what ive been doin...copied all songs onto macbook and authorized....

Hey, i noticed that you cannot transfer files from PC to Mac/Mac to PC on a USB flash disk. Thy don't show as real files. How do i do when i want to move 1 GB music, 50 MB files and 3 GB videos to mac from pc?

What format is the disk...?

Then what do you mean they don't show as real files?

I have no problem with either of our USB pen drives, nor external HDs.

Edit: My pen drive is even FAT16 formatted...

Well, I took a MS word document on the USB to a peecee. Nay works! Perhpas works better the other way. I'm not worried about the videos and music, becuase I have VLC and iTunes, but mostly all the files and docs.

Make sure the file(s) has an extension (.doc for Word files). USB Flash drives work fine between the Mac and PC, but Mac files don't always have extensions (they don't need them), while the PC won't recognize a file without an extension. If you've got a file with no extension that you need to open on a PC, just rename it and add the correct extension.

I use a USB flash drive to transfer files from my Mac to a PC and vice versa all the time. Never had any problems with Word files, Excel files, pictures, music, movies, text files, etc as long as they have extensions.

When you transfer songs to the new computer... youll be able to authorize the new machine to play all your downloaded songs. They are the Same mp4 format.
Videos will play accross all platforms, dosent matter what operating system.

Fat32 doesnt work fully with Os X, i think it will show up as read only(if at all)
I had this problem with a Flash drive some one gave me. You may have to use a different Flash Drive.

format the flash drive in OS X as "ms-dos" format, aka fat16.

Ok, thanks. I'm sure it'll work out, though i decided to use an external HDD, it will go much faster that way.
