Just curious. Haven't played the Mtn Lion much yet, I'm missing my little twirlys when checking for mail.

I kind of liked the empty cache feature on Safari. Not sure how important that is, but just out of habit, especially after doing a multitude of searches, I used to empty the cache, seemed to make the browser run faster.

Again just curious, thanks.

I doubt you could "downgrade" like you "upgraded" but, I'm sure you could create a USB boot drive, format your drive, and do a clean install of Lion.

Please remember to back up the drive before you format.

i'm sure that there could be a way to do that, such as the method mentioned above me, but are you sure that you want to downgrade just so you could empty cache on a browser and have "twirly" things on mail?

Maybe there could be a way to downgrade to safari 5

whatever's good or bad about ML...it's lighter, faster than lion. seems (so far) more stable. and like it or not, it's going to be in your future at some point (unless you wait for 10.9...)

why wait? imho, mountain lion is 'the snow leopard of lion'...

I don't really guess the little things are that important. I'm a visual guy and just liked seeing something that was indicating mail is downloading.

As for clearing the cache, I've only been a Mac user for about a year. So I was in the habit of always deleting Internet Explorer temporary files, felt clearing the Safari cache was about the same. Maybe not necessary on a Mac!

I've just discovered that after installing ML you can't boot from previously bootable Lion external drives. A clean installation might work, but there are definitely problems trying to boot from bootable external Lion drives (see my thread on the subject).

The purpose of a browser cache is to improve performance. Always emptying it will reduce performance.

But, you can always make an Automator script to do this, it shouldn't be difficult at all.

lol

Can anybody show/tell me what "twirly" he is referring to?

I would like to check it out before I get ML.

The little twirly is to the right of your mailbox in the sidebar. When you click the "check for new mail" envelope, they twirly's just show that it is looking, d/l'ing, etc.

 I need to downgrade right away, I'm missing a great feature right there!

As for emtying Safari's cahe: go to Safari's Preferences -> Advanced -> turn 'Show Develop menu in menu bar' on. You'll find 'Empty Caches' under Develop menu.

There ya have it. That's why these forums are so valuable.

Some make fun of little twirly's, but most are very helpful;)

Thanks to all.

You can downgrade as long as you made a lion CD. You have to format the harddrive and then re-install Lion. The recovery partion will be removed and then replaced with a lion one during the install.

I just restarted my Macbook and started with CMD + R for the internet recovery and it was wanting to reinstall Mountain Lion.

So in order for you to go to Lion, you will need to create a USB boot disk and install fresh and clean.
