I am curious if I can upgrade my Xserve's dual Woodcrest 2.66 dual core Xeons to dual Clovertown 2.00 quad core Xeons? I have heard of people doing it with their Mac Pro 1,1's, but haven't found an absolute answer to the Xserve. Anyone know? Thanks.

You can do anything with money. Would it be worth it? No.

So the short answer would be, no.

Some people have found them cheap enough to potentially make it worth it assuming the OP's software scales well with higher core counts.

If this is for anything other than person tinkering; this is a disaster waiting to happen. I agree though, if the price point makes sense, but I just don't see it.
