Hello.
I had a plan to upgrade CPU and SSD in to the my Regular 2017 iMac 27-inch with 1TB Fusion.
Already purchased Samsung Evo Plus 512GB and Long-Adapter waiting for adhesive.
Members of this forum multiply times described how they had numerous issues with NVME SSDs and adapters,
such as Hibernation issue or poor connection that leads to the second opening of the iMac.
As preparation for upgrade I decide to surf eBay for original Apple SSDs and came across this two Mac Pro's SSD's:
- Samsung OEM MZ-JPV512S/0A1
- Apple OEM 1TB MZ-KPV1T0S/0A1
Based on information I have collected NVME will be about 30-40% faster.
But when we are talking about speeds over 1,200 Mb/s id rather to have more reliable and stable SSD than speed.
Is there any chance it will fit without any obstacles?
Also off-topic question:
Can i keep actual hard drive from my Fusion build and use is as extra storage where SSD will be uses as Main Boot Drive.
(My guess i just don't have to assemble Fusion drive back while formatting)
Thank you.
