I have a G4 Powerbook, and a friend is giving me an older Mini. Is there a way I can use the laptop as monitor and keyboard for the Mini? I have been reading a bit about software like Sharemouse, but can not find this issue addressed.

Do not bother with software solutions. Monitors and keyboard are often cheap or free at local computer shops. I know my local shop will give you a free CRT display or do a combo of CRT, mouse, and keyboard for $10.00 or $20.00. Check with the local shops or go popping some tags while thrift shopping.
