My old Macbook Pro isn't on the list of supported Macs for Monterey.

Question: Will I be able to take the Time Machine backup (an external hard disk) of my old MacBook Pro running Big Sur and use it in the Setup/Migration Assistant on the new MacBook Pro running Monterey?

I might have to ship my old MacBook Pro to sell it before the new one arrives. Hence the question.

Thanks in advance.

I have basically the same question; wondering if I can use Migration Assistant to move everything from my 2014 MBA Time Machine's Mojave backup(s) to my new MBP, 16", M1 Max with Monterey?

OK, I could be wrong*, but I'd be pretty confident the the answer is Yes for both of you. (Assuming the disk drive itself is reliable.)

* I've used Migration Assistant a few times, but I'm still on Mojave, with only a little experimental Big Sur time under my belt.

Might be good if others gave their opinion...
