I need to use one app, requiring GPS and the camera, and nothing else. I was wondering if it is possible to buy an iphone and just use it with my wireless connection to do this?

I have Sprint right now, with 15 months left on my contract, and getting out of it would be painfully expensive, so I'm trying to figure out whether there is any workaround to solve this problem.

Any ideas? Solutions?

No, because I would have to break a family plan, meaning pay for 2 current phones, and get a more expensive plan on ATT, and then have to pay for two iphones for a new family plan... it would be very expensive.

I just found the following on the mac support site:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406

It says that you can use the iphone just like you would an ipod touch, even without service, with just a wireless connection. All you do is pop out the SIM card and it works like the ipod touch.

The ipod touch does not have GPS though, so the question remains, does the GPS function normally, and work just as accurately without the service? If so, this is the answer to my problems :)

Anybody know? Anyone feel like popping out their sim card a few minutes and walking around with the GPS on to see if it is really showing their exact location properly?? Thanks!
