My late-2013 MacBook Pro that uses the 85W MagSafe 2 power adapter comes with a power adapter extension cable. However my 2017 MacBook Pro doesn't have the extension cable for 87W USB-C power adapter, just the electrical plughead.

Are there any issues if I use the 85W MagSafe 2 power adapter extension cable with the 87W USB-C power adapter?

Yes you can use it no problem. (Indeed Apple themselves sell the extension cable on its own for this purpose.)

They are all interchangeable. You can even use it on an iPad charger. It's just a 110/220V cable. I actually use that to charge my iPhone since it is grounded and there are no issues with static on the phone exterior.
