Can I use one of those component to scart converters?

Would love to get an Apple TV, but worried about wasting money - my TV only has SCART input

I know you can get component-to-scart adapters, so would this be OK?

I'm not very knowledgeable of SCART connectors, but I did find this on the Wikipedia site.....

-SCART cannot officially carry non-RGB (e.g. YPbPr) component video signals, which are gaining ground as an improvement over S-Video in markets where SCART is not used. However, some manufacturers of set-top-boxes and DVD players are known to provide optional (menu-selectable), non-standard YPbPr output through the pins that are officially reserved for RGB color components.

Since the TV outputs via HDMI or component(YPbPr), I think it would depend on what type of signal the SCART connector on your TV supports. My guess with the way the wiki article read, I'm guessing you're better off not bothering.

Quite surprising that Apple have limited it so much. My TV is only two and a bit years old and cost £1k so I kinda hoped it would work. Still...

I think it just comes to Apple designing the tv primarily for the US market. HDTVs here have had component connections since they first started coming out 4+ years ago, and HDMI/DVI on most made in the last year or two. So the connections on the tv would work with 99% of HDTVs here in the US. That does leave out other markets though...
