Have searched and can't find the answer to this question. I have four sticks of DDR2 PC2-5400 memory, which is a tad bit faster than the PC2-4200 that is recommended for the new 2.5GHz quad PowerMac.

My question is: will this memory work? good idea or bad idea?

Thanks in advance. Just switching from PC to Mac, and looking forward to it.

Will it blow up the machine? Probably not.
Will it work? No way to tell without trying, because we don;t know if the SPD settings are appropriate for the Mac.
Will it be result in faster performance than 533 MHz RAM? Absolutely not.

THanks

Thanks, didn't expect to improve speed -- just wanted to know if it was ok/safe since I happen to have the 4 1gig sticks already.

Appreciate the info.
