I am looking to get another monitor to add to my current 4K monitor. I am slightly worried about how the iGPU will handle another 8million pixels to load if I get another 4K monitor. Therefore, can I use scaling on my current 4K monitor to mimic the load of having another monitor hooked up to my mini?

Figures: Currently I have a 4K monitor (8,294,400 pixels). If I add another, that would require driving 16,588,800 pixels. Will using the highest scaling option of 6720 x 3780 (25,401,600 pixels) allow me to stress test my GPU to see how well it handles what is effectively the same as adding more monitors?

Yes. That res will be similar to driving 3x 4K screens without any scaling.

But if you used scaled 4K resolutions, the GPU load may be higher.

Thanks. I currently use 'looks like 1080p' scaling, so no major GPU hit. If I had a second 4K monitor I'd leave it the same. When using that stress scenario of 25million pixels, UI lag was present when doing various animations such as launchpad, but if that's the only problems, I can live with it.

How much RAM do you have?
For some reason Launchpad is really heavy on either GPU or CPU, and very sensitive to screen res.

16GB, and I won’t be upgrading for a very long time, if ever as i am a casual user (web browsing, youtube, outlook, excel, word etc). I rarely use launchpad so it’s not much of an issue. I’m more concerned with general lag/stutter from having two 4k monitors. Seems like I’m worrying too much and should be fine if i only use 2X scaling.
