I used ziphone to unlock, jailbreak and all that. actually someone did it for me!

If i plug in the iphone and click RESTORE will it safely bring my phone back to the out of the box condition??

I am new to this and love the unlocked, but i might want to upgrade to the new version of iPhone on Friday and am just curious, i have read so much that scares me.. I was told Restore will bring me all back to square 1??

No it will not.

Having said that upgrading will probably not do anything to your phone except remove the jailbreak and relock it.

The best advice I can give you is wait for a jailbreak from the devteam.

But to make it simple:

Ziphone unlocks but changed your bootloader to 3.9
It also jailbreaks and adds Installer.

Restoring to 1.1.4.

Does not change bootloader or relock phone.
Removes Installer and jailbreak.

Restoring to 2.0

Will not change bootloader but will relock phone (as its a newer version of the phone modem)
Removes Installer and jailbreak.

DO NOT RESTORE FROM YOUR BACK UP EVER!

You will lose all your messages and data. You can resync your contacts using iTunes. If you restored from your backup then the jailbreak data would be put back on the phone but it would not be jailbreaked causing conflicts and lots of possible problems.

As you can see from what I have said - in theory if you restore to 2.0 then you should not have any problems except your phone will be locked again and not jailbroken.

However - the final 2.0 software is not out so we can't be sure. But based on the beta versions you should be fine if you RESTORE to 2.0.

I think i got it

So in a nutshell, if i do the UPGRADE to 2.0 i have a phone with all the new features but it is once again locked and not Jail broken! and has the new features of 2.0
BUT has the 3.9 boot loader (how does that effect me at all)

OR

Leave it alone and wait to see what the DEV team comes up with.

AND Do NOT do a RESTORE and then Sync..that will cause problems

Do i have it correct please!
Thanks
