My friend from Germany wants me to buy a iphone for him here in USA and have it shipped to Germany. Would it work if jailbreaked? I am not an IT WIZ, so if somebody can explain it to me I would really appreciate it.
Thankx a lot in advance!!!!

Yes, but only if you "unlock" it not jailbreak it. If you unlock it, they can use it on any carrier with a SIM card(GSM Carriers)

you have to do all anyways (at least i did with ijailbreak... i couldn´t unlock it without jailbreaking it)
active is just to get the phone working like you would usually activate it with att since he doesn´t want to he just pretends he is activating it with att
unlock is that you can put any sim card in it that you want not just the att one and
jailbreak is that you can install 3rd party software...
it´s now problem ! i´m in germany and have an american iphone too...
works perfectly ! just keep in mind that he might have to pay tax on it if customs open the package....
use ziphone... there is a lot of threads in the forum on that

I have a friend that asked me for the same.
However he wants to use it with a T-Mobile SIM in Germany, can he just only activate it there in Germany, an USA iPhone?

like i said... completely no problem...

Sorry if I didn't was completely explicit, my question is if it works in Germany without jailbreaking/unlocking, so he can just activate it in Germany with his T-Mobile SIM?

Or are the iPhones from the USA blocked by Apple so they can only be used in the USA, and in this case the only way for him will be jailbraking/unlocking it.

Thanks!
