Hi all,

Forgive the complete beginners Mac question!

Can I view usb stick contents from Windows laptops?

The USB memory stick is less than five years old, and have saved stuff from Windows 7 and 10 laptops.

The office files, are office 365, I think. Would they open up with office 365 on a new M1 MacBook Air?

Hope you can advise

Best wishes,
Martin

MacOS can read NTFS but not write, it can read/write FAT16/32/exFAT ... so what format is your usb stick?
Office files should open just fine ...

Hi jz,

Thanks for the quick reply guys!

I have got no idea! I just bought it from curries, and plugged into the work Windows laptop and started saving stuff onto it!

As I say, less than five years old, 64GB memory stick from curries. Whatever the bog standard file system would be on those. Sorry, I’ve got no idea! :)

It’s been so many years, since I’ve actually got into personal home tech, so be interesting to See how I get on with this Mac.

10 years ago, I used to do a bit of UNIX programming, funny how things come around :)

Best wishes

Martin

I haven't used Windows in over a year (lucky me :)) but at 64GB it's most likely FAT32 I'm guessing ... and I guess it is USB A so make sure you have a dongle or dock station for your M1 ... good luck
