Can iOS 11 sync messages from icloud?

I restored my iphone 6 to factory settings which caused itunes to update it from 10.3 to 11.0.2. While most things like calendar, contacts and reminders have been synched back, there are no messages. Is iOS 11 not able to pull messages from icloud?

No. It’s been taken out of iOS 11 GM. It will be turned on in a future update though

Thank you for the quick reply. This is very difficult to understand. I guess I will have to restore from a backup. I just hope icloud hasn't been over-written when I did the restore...
