Hi, I just got my new MBP 17 inch!

and I just got a little question.

I know iSight can be used in photo booth thing,
take picture and stuff,
but can it be used to record video?

because it seems like such a waste
if it's only for snap shot photos.

if it can record video,
what are programs that I can use to do that?

Is it possible to use iSight with Windows via Boot camp?

I'm still a Mac newbie,
so any help would be great!

thanks!

You can record through iMovie. Click on that slider button next to the stop/pause/play button below the preview screen and you can select your iSight as an input.

Get a separate microphone because it seriously sucks if you plan to record decent sound.

You can record video with your iSight using iMovie, which come preinstalled on your Mac.

Open the app up, start a new project and below the screen you'll see a little camera icon...

...click this and it'll ask you to select the video camera of your choice to start recording with, in this instance your iSight.

Hey guys, thank you all for the help!

I should try recording right away =)

What I would like to know if is there a motion activated recorder out there for the mac? I used to have one for my pc with my logitech quickcam and it was great for catching people snooping on your laptop... oir catching your dog drinking from the toilet... etc etc.

So you would place your webcam in the bathroom? For your dog?

:)

There may be more interesting things in view of that camera then your dog :p

Am I the only one that wishes that the iSight was able to pop out so we could rotate up/down and sideways with out having to either move the laptop?

So, anyone? Any video recording software for the iSight, other than iMovie?

Thanks.

I use iRecord

"iRecord... Want to make recordings with your camera? Don't want to buy QuickTime Pro? iRecord is your solution. Just open iRecord, and video recording is as simple as pressing the red button. Take a quick photo by dragging the picture to your desktop. iRecord is the pure, Mac-way to capture video. Better yet, its free. Donations are requested."

Can't really get more simple than this. Just click the red button and record. It even lets you take a frame shot simply by dragging the current video frame on to the desktop.
