I'd say I have about 10% of my music that's been uploaded to my cloud, as it couldn't be matched. This past weekend I spent a considerable amount of time fixing my music...proper info...album, names, etc., etc. I then resync'd iTunes Match hoping that the previously uploaded songs would be recognized and replaced with matched songs. No such luck.

My question is...
Will iTunes Match EVER recognize song information that's been corrected, and recognizable to the iTunes Store, so that the uploaded version will be scrapped and a matched song will take it's place?

You could try experimenting on a small (20-ish batch). Save the actual files somewhere else from iTunes. Then delete them from your library and let it totally delete them from the cloud. Then readd them and update iTunes match to see if it helped any of them.

That seems like a logical way iTunes Match would work. If your songs have already been uploaded to the cloud, there's no reason to try and match them (except to download better quality songs). You would have to remove the songs from the cloud and then get iTunes Match to match them.

Keep in mind that some songs just won't get matched such as empty tracks and really small songs.

This is what I expect over time, The algorithms will be adjusted slightly, perhaps rather than matching the song 100%, it has to be 95% similar. Or even allow the user to select from a few versions available in the store to match the actual song.

Could save Apple some space at their data centre, however I dont think that would be a major problem.

From the tests people have done it looks like Match only looks at the waveform, not at the metatags at all. So changing those will probably make no difference.

Hopefully when Apple does make improvements it will either switch uploaded songs to "matched" status or at least give users the option.
