Be careful. Make sure you know your back up plans. This kinds of mod can cause no boot, or boot loop etc.
Just tossing out an alternative to Night Shift that I've installed on every Mac (even the ones capable of Night Shift) since ~2010. http://justgetflux.com
It's free, way more configurable, and as a bonus in Mojave it can auto-enable Dark Mode at night and resume to Light Mode during the day.
