Hello, my friend bought one of the first MBPs. He complained that it was burning hot, and when I found that apple were fixing/replacing them, I told him to go to the apple store. He said that he would, but never got round to it. Now he again started complaining, and asked me if there is anything he can do, and if he gave it to the store, if they would take a long time with it. What should I tell him?

Sounds like it's his problem. Either deal with the hotness or don't have it for a little while... tell him to call the store to find out how long it would take.

The average repair time for the MBP's heat issue is about 5 days, if dealing direct with applecare. that goes up to 14 days if dealing with the Apple store.
