Hi All

I've just bought a samsung HD television but don't want to run it as a television (I enjoy just watching things that I want to watch rather than watching aimlessly!)

If I put iPlayer HD on the mac and plug the samsung in via the Yellow component cable to the mini dvi adapter...

I'd love to watch things like Planet Earth in HD having seen it on a friends Blu-Ray player.

Was amazing!

Cheers for your help

Nick

p.s. anyone with an xbox, does the HDMI make a significant improvement over the component cable input?

I have a PS3 hooked up to my 52" Samsung HDTV, and using a HDMI cable looks better than just a regular component cable.

By the way, if you have a PS3 or XBox 360, there's really no reason to hook your Mac up to it. There is software that allows you to stream videos/music/photos from your Mac to your PS3/Xbox 360. That's what I do and it works great.

If you use the yellow composite, it will only output a SD resolution. I recommend either HDMI, DVI, or VGA to get a better picture.
