Can MyWi Do This?

I will be traveling on business but hotel room does not have wifi.

I want to connect my iPhone to my notebook using the apple cable, then fire up Wifi for my iPad use. I.e.

LAN - PC - iPhone - iPad

Would this work?

I Think you can share your connection via your network preferences with no third party. Assuming your notebook has a wi-fi card. Google it

Sure would be nice if AT&T copied Verizon's thing that creates a mobile hot spot with a smartphone. I'd buy an iPad tomorrow if AT&T did that.

Assuming your net book has WiFi, no cable is required. Your iPhone will act as a wifi hotspot. You can even protect the network with a password. I've used to give my Wifi only iPad, Internet access, while on the go.

Only cable I'd recommend is the power cable for the iPhone. MyWi can drain the battery if left on.

Depending on the phone, I believe you still have to do some hacking. Or at least, my friend had to "root" his droid.

If your laptop is connected to wired LAN at the hotel, could you not use it to setup a wifi hotspot? So that both your iPhone and iPad can connect to it wirelessly.

If this is possible it's a better solution. That is, if you'r'e planing on using the connection for a long time. After about 2 hours of wifi on that phone you'll find it is very hot. I wondered if I should have stuck my phone on ice. The people at the airport restaurant even said they'd bring me a bowl of ice and cover it with saran wrap so the phone didn't get wet.
